Pat- Tutor
Favorite Books/Literature: It's hard to say because I am "picky" about what I read and therefore, love almost all the books I read. I only have so much time to devote to reading, so I try to select what truly interests me.
Favorite Types of Writing: biography, autobiography, newspaper, magazine or web features, books of intrigue based on reality. Having said that, two of my favorite books are fictional: The Lotus Eaters and Life of Pi
Favorite Resources: grammargirl.com;slate.com (great feature stories); NPR (radio and website)
Favorite Movies: almost anything Woody Allen, foreign films (I like to learn about other cultures.)
Favorite Classes: psychology, English, anthropology (I also love languages but never reached a leave of fluency in any of them--sad!)
Suggestions to students coming into the Writing Center: Try to bring in your best "try" at your paper. In other words, if you have been thoughtful in your approach to your work (Always ask yourself, "What am I really trying to say here?") , the tutor can help bring you to even a higher level.
Writing Suggestions: Stay focused; keep it simple; rely on what you know; be an agressive researcher; respect your own voice.
